TANZANITE

Found only in a small area of northern Tanzania, near Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzanite is a rare and highly prized gemstone. It is a blue-violet variety of the mineral zoisite, and its striking colour and scarcity make it one of the most sought-after gemstones in the world. As the name of this gemstone is derived from the place of its origin, it has no specific traditional name in Hindi and is called the same.

Although a recent discovery in the world of gemstones, tanzanite is regarded as a stone of prosperity and strength by the Maasai people in Tanzania, the place where it was found. It is also special in both Tanzanian culture and the global gemstone market due to its rarity.

Tanzanite is only found in a very small area located near Mount Kilimanjaro,  in Tanzania, and hence is rare and valuable due to its rarity and rich colour. It was found by a man from the Maasai tribe inhabiting nearby, and was named by Tiffany and Co.
